How to read poetry

How to read poetry:

Buy a book of poetry from a poet everyone is talking about.

Skim through the book if you want, or put it straight on your bookshelf or in a pile of books in the corner, or don’t even buy the book in the first place.

Learn about the dramas of the poet, what their ideologies are and whether they are single, crazy or depressed.

Find out what publishers and venues they are boycotting, what poets they are cancelling, and who they are trying to get fired from some adjunct position; find out if they are being boycotted, canceled or fired.

Engage in gossip about all of these dramas.

Date, hook up, or have an affair with the poet.

Get your own book published that nobody will read, then have a bad breakup that everyone will talk about.
